Koronadal City—Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. received a whooping P6.4M worth of earnings from Mahintana’s Foundation Health Plus Shop-in-a-Shop, a private-public partnership (PPP) that caters the delivery of medicines in all Provincial Government of South Cotabato-owned hospitals.
He accepted the 70 percent rebate of the net income last year. Based on the record, the 2022 sales were the highest income of the friendly drug store. The share is utilized for the improvement of hospital services and facilities.
“The partnership supports my promise of free hospitalization,” the governor said.
According to the net income profit, SCPH received the highest share of P5M, while Norala District Hospital claimed P1.4M.
The partnership ensures a steady supply of safe, quality, and affordable health plus medicines for the indigent patients of the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, Polomolok District Hospital, and Norala District Hospital. It complies with PhilHealth’s policy on No Balance Billing in hospitals and addresses concerns about the delayed procurement of medicines and medical supplies.
Liza Horra, Mahintana Foundation Executive Director, said the friendly drug store provided medicines to at least 525, 000 indigent patients in 2022. The record showed that 99 percent of the indigent patients.
“The Provincial LGU has attained its goal. Some of the local government units in the Philippines are already replicating the success of South Cotabato’s Health Plus Shop-in-a-Shop,” Horra said.
The partnership won a Galing Pook seal, an award-giving body that recognizes innovative practices by local government units.
