Despite the on-going global CoViD-19 pandemic that is the primary focus of the province of South Cotabato as of the present, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) disclosed that they are prepared in case dengue will surge in the province.
PDRRMO O-I-C Rolly Doane Aquino said during the recent Kapihan sa Kapitolyo media forum that his office has allocated funds for the purchase of chemicals and machine/equipment to will be used during fogging operations in dengue-hit barangays in the province.
Based from the latest Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) reports, dengue cases now totaled 700 province-wide.
Last July 2019, barely a month after Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. assumed office, dengue outbreak hit a number of towns in South Cotabato that led to the province-wide declaration of state of calamity by the Sannguniang Panlalawigan.
The Department of Health (DOH) cautioned the general public to be vigilant against dengue because it is critical if an individual is infected with dengue and at the same time with CoVid-19 since the former weakens the immune system.
