PEMO activates SWM Team for 2017 T’nalak Fest

The Committee on Proper Solid Waste Management (CPSWM) chaired by Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) chief Siegfred Flaviano has now been activated in preparation for the 51st Foundation Anniversary and 18th T’nalak Festival.

PEMO-Environment Management Division chief Supervising Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag and CPSWM Co-Chair disclosed that they will deploy 40 Sweepers and Pickers as well as 10 Enforcers from Jul 11 to 19 to enforce proper solid waste management along the national highway and streets of Koronadal City where the different venues of the festival activities are located.

The main focus of SWM team will be Alunan Avenue, Balucanag stressed, where daily events such as the live band, T’nalak Food Garden, T’nalak Strip, Bahay Kubo, Trade Fair & Exhibits and Fun Rides at PROTECH Center are located, not including the Agri-Trade and Plant Fair which is located at the adjacent Dahlia and Waling-Waling Streets in Rizal Park and Carnival Rides and “Ukay’Ukay” near Agan Homes Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Cruz.

But she added that their deployment schedule might extend until the end of the month since there are still some continuing events.

Aside maintaining cleanliness and sanitation during the week-long festival, the CPSWM will also evaluate the Bahay Kubo as part of the contest criteria.

The CPSWM, composed of PEMO, PIO and City ENRO will meet for a final meeting on July 8.
