PEMO conducts Planning, Budgeting Workshop for Cluster II LGUs

To further enhance the different environment programs of LGUs joining the province’s annual Search for the Cleanest and Greenest LGUs, 5 municipalities have undergone Planning and Budgeting Workshop session last February 18 -19 at Villa Princessita, City of Koronadal.

The 5 towns involved namely; Banga, Lake Sebu, Norala, Sto. Nino and Tantangan were designated Cluster II LGUs that joined the annual search.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) under Officer-in-Charge Siegfred Flaviano, the 2-day planning workshop focused on the strengths and weaknesses of the LGUs particularly on environmental planning and programming.

Participants in the workshop that include MENROs, MEOs, MPDOs, MLGOOs, Market Supervisors and other allied offices were lectured on different environment topics such as Environmental Governance, Waste Water Management and Sharing of Best Practices of other LGUs by PEMO-OIC Flaviano.

Other sharers include PEMO-MGD OIC Nencita Acain on Solid Waste Management,; Atty. Marnito Cosep on Environmental Laws, Writ of Kalikasan and Writ of Continuing Mandamus; Forester Mary Jane Manlisis on Forest Management; DILG South Cotabato OIC Lailyn Ortiz on Environmental Mandates under the Local Government Code; Surallah MENRO Yolanda Plaira on Sharing of Best Practices – Local Initiatives; Planning Officer Jennifer Bretana on Environmental Planning Concepts and Strategies for LGUs.

After the lengthy discussions, the different municipal officials converged per LGU to discuss their respective environment program plan and budget to be implemented this year and presented it to the plenary for the proper cliniquing.

The submitted environment program and budget will be the subject of evaluation by the team of evaluators during the final evaluation that will be conducted sometime in June this year.

During the initial evaluation, only the Barangay, Community Garden and Backyard Garden of said municipalities were evaluated by the evaluators.
