Some 28 members of the T’boli Jewelers Association (TJA) joined the Upgrading Skills Training on Jewelry-Making conducted by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) at the Day Care Center of Poblacion, T’boli from June 8 – 10.
Nencita Acain, PEMO – Mines and Geo-Sciences Division chief disclosed that the 3-day skills training aims to improve the skills of TJA members in order to produce quality jewelries that can compete not only in the local but international market as well.
PEMO has been conducting trainings for the past years to TJA members in partnership with some national government agencies and the upgrading skills training is the latest among said trainings.
Rene de los Santos, an experienced goldsmith working at Nel-Gyn’s Goldsmith in Koronadal City, was hired by PEMO to be the trainer of the amateur goldsmiths.
Tribal Mining Corporation (TMC) donated one (1) kilogram of silver for the training.
TJA plans to sell their finished products as well as take orders from interested buyers.
PEMO partners in the said training were the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Office, T’boli LGU and TMC.
