Koronadal City—Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. seeks to cut power cost and integrate solar panel in all offices inside the Provincial Capitol.
“I am still reviewing the offer and studying its advantages so that we can reduce our expenses,” the governor said during the weekly Kapihan sa Kapitolyo.
A solar-powered company visited his office recently and discussed terms on strategies to lower the electricity bill.
The local chief executive said the company planned to put solar panels on the roof of all buildings inside the capitol at no cost. They would charge P5 per kilowatt.
“If we spent P1M every month, for example, we could cut at least P400, 000 by using solar panels,” Tamayo explained.
The governor is also looking into the possibility of purchasing solar panels for the Capitol’s consumption.
Fredaliza Gazo, Provincial General Services Officer-in-Charge, said the office is in charge of the electricity bills for the three buildings inside the Capitol- the main building, the finance building, and the planning building.
“In the last few months, we are spending an average of P500, 000 for the electricity bill,” Gazo said.
The Governor’s push to cut electricity spending is part of a larger effort to bring more services to the people.
“This is our commitment to the people. That is why we need to implement the corporate power of the local government unit to generate fund to sustain our program,” he added.
