Rabid dog bites 3 persons in Koronadal, PVET confirms

Koronadal City—The Provincial Veterinary  (PVet) of South Cotabato confirmed that a rabid dog attacked three persons in Barangay San Isidro, City of Koronadal.

Veterinary Doctor Byron dela Cruz said that pet owner Jenelyn Mission, who was also a victim, brought the head of the dog at the Provincial Veterinary Office for laboratory rabies confirmation last January 3.

PVET facilitated the laboratory confirmation at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratories (RADDLs) located in General Santos City.

The pet owner Mission suffered a dog scratch.

Two other children, who are neighbors of the Mission family, were also attacked by the rabid dog.

PVET, however, referred the case to the City of Koronadal Veterinary Office for further action.

The victims, meanwhile, were advised to get an anti-rabies vaccination.
