South Cot Chorale wins Mindanao-wide choir competition

The 22-strong South Cotabato Chorale, the province’s in-house choir and under the baton of conductor Ryan Corneta made it again, winning this time the “Harana sa Abreeza” Mindanao-wide Choir Competition (Open Category) held at Abreeza Mall, Davao City recently.

 

During the Monday regular convocation program, Provincial Tourism Officer Cesar Sulit Jr. announced South Cotabato Chorale bested 11 other groups that joined the competition.

 

“With South Cotabato as the champion, University of Mindanao – Digos City made it only as 1st runner-up followed by Ateneo de Davao University – Conservatory of Music as 2nd runner-up,” Sulit enthusiastically reported.

 

Their winning pieces include T’boli song “Koyu Mo Tebulul” and Tagalog hit song “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat”.

 

As champion, South Cotabato Chorale was awarded P30,000.00 cash incentive plus a winner’s certificate from Abreeza Mall.

 

The award was presented to Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes during the convocation program.

 

Last year, South Cotabato Chorale won gold medal in the folklore or Category F competition in the prestigious Sing’ N’ Joy Manila 2013 – Philippine International Choir Competition, sponsored by INTERKULTUR Germany (IK)  last December 11 – 14 in Metro Manila.

 

For their feat, the chorale is now eligible to participate in INTERKULTUR events in 2014 that runs from March to November and held in countries such as Spain, Austria, Hungary, Latvia, Germany and US of A.
