South Cotabato adopts digital HIV services

Koronadal City—Services for HIV testing and prevention is now on the digital platform, Provincial Health Officer Rogelio Aturdido, Jr, reported.

“South Cotabato is one of the pilot sites of AWRA SAFELY Digital Application. It is an easy access and electronic appointments for patients who wish to avail of the services in HIV prevention, treatment, control and management. And even legal support services,” Aturdido said.

AWRA is a Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. initiative to expand the access of HIV Services with innovative digital prevention feature.

“The platform builds up HIV awareness and prevention capabilities to go with the advent of technology,” Aturdido explained.

John Arlo Codilla, Infectious Disease Cluster Head, said the platform is attached to the HIV-AIDS Treatment Center in South Cotabato where a client could access HIV screening, self-testing, lectures and videos, HIV drugs, link to treatment hub, digital follow-up, drug inventory and supply notification, and legal assistance.

“The platform has online chatters where you can ask for assistance,” Codilla said.

Codilla emphasized the salient feature of the platform is its confidentiality.

“We continuously searching for tools and linkage with other developing partners to provide an easy access of services to all our clients and serve a significant impact to the program implemented by the province,” Codilla added.

At present, record shows that South Cotabato reported at least 100 new HIV cases.
