South Cotabato exceeds 95% Oral Polio Vaccination Target

South Cotabato has once again exceeded the 95% target of the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio (SPKP) – mass oral polio vaccination set by the Department of Health (DOH) that started last July 20 until August 2 of this year.

The province reached 97.61% of its coverage target of 114,774 0-59-month old children which is equivalent to 112,030 of the targeted children.

The latest SPKP,  which employ the Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccine (Types 1 & 3), is higher than the last January 20 – February 2 SPKP this year, when the province registered only 97.59% or equivalent to 111,978 of the coverage target

Based from the report of the Integrated Provincial Health Office, LGUs that exceeded 100% of their target population were T’boli – 103.76% (11,899); Tupi – 102.84% (9,024); Lake Sebu – 102.06% (11,191); Norala – 100.91% (5,902); Sto. Nino – 100.05% ( 5,137), while LGUs that reached the 95% target were Banga – 99.96% (10,628) and Surallah – 95.32% (10,1050.

Only the City of Koronadal – 94.80% (20,797), Polomolok – 94.24% (18,031), Tampakan – 92.75% (4,597) and Tantangan – 88.87% (4,819) were the LGUs that were not able to reach the 95% target.
