South Cotabato ‘Kabugwason’ scholarship opens 120 slots this year

Koronadal City—More students can avail of education assistance as the Provincial Government of South Cotabato announced the Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship Program (KPSP) for undergraduate and post graduate this school year.

Janly Grace Aspera, Program Coordinator, said there are 120 available slots for eight categories under the scholarship program.

“Forms are downloadable and not for sale,” Aspera said.

According to Aspera, KPSP allocated 60 slots for category A and B out the 120 scholarship slots.

Category A and B scholar is one who has exemplary academic record, ranked high in the qualifying exam and whose family belongs to low-income earner and or children of OFWs.

However, KPSP reserved six slots each for the following categories: awardees and winners in national and international competitions, for Persons with Disability, Muslim, solo parents, and for student who excel in extra-curricular or non-academic merit.

Aspera, meanwhile, said KPSP assigned 30 slots for indigenous people.

On the other hand, 20 slots are available for post-graduate courses like medicine and juris doctor.

KPSP recorded 102 graduates last school year with four magna cum laude, 19 cum laude, and 18 academic excellence.

“We have scheduled school visits to monitor and follow-up grades of our scholars,” Aspera said.

The record also showed that there are 24 continuing grantees who are taking Medicine. Three graduates of Medicine are already employed at the Provincial Government, serving at the district hospitals in the province.

KPSP is an institutionalized scholarship program through Ordinance Number 1 Series of 2020.
