South Cotabato remembers GAMABA Lang Dulay

Koronadal City—The people of South Cotabato led by the Provincial Government commemorated the works of Tnalak Master Dreamweaver Lang Dulay through a wreath laying ceremony in her hometown Lake Sebu. Today is her birth anniversary.

Lang Dulay’s grandson Delmo Dulay  said the birth of her grandmother is a symbol of hope and unity just like the weaving process of the GAMABA awardee’s tnalak designs.

“I am happy for your continued support in ensuring that indigenous culture flourishes and in cultivating consciousness among the people of South Cotabato,” he said.

The family stressed that Lang Dulay’s birthday is also a thanksgiving gathering.

“Thank you for the legacy,” he said.

Argie Ryan Asaria, Senior Tourism Operations Officer, said his office allocated a regular budget for wreath laying during the birth and death anniversaries of Lang Dulay. His office also prepares activities to remember the works of Lang Dulay.

“Lang Dulay is an inspiration in our branding as the Land of the Dreamweavers. It is already an ordinance that put us this name,” he proudly added.

A marker to Lang Dulay’s weaving center was unveiled after the ceremony.
