The Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council of South Cotabato is up for another challenge as it sets to host the nationwide kick-off for the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week celebration in November this year.
Early this weeek, the Dangerous Drugs Board has sent a letter to Governor Daisy P. Avance-Fuentes requesting the province to host said annual event.
DDB Executive Director Earl P. Saadvedra said as a tradition, the hosting of the annual event is rotated among local government units to showcase their respective best practices on drug abuse prevention and control. It also aims to increase the participation of stakeholders in a government campaign against drug abuse and trafficking, the letter said.
Last year, the hosting of the DAPC kick-off was held at Lucban, Quezon wherein PADAC South Cotabato received an award as one of the active councils in the country.
Before the year ends, PADAC made another milestone after it emerged as one of the Highly Functional ADAC in the country adjudged by the Department of Interior and Local Government Central Office.
The award was conferred to South Cotabato for its exemplary performance after garnering a total point score of 98%.
PADAC South Cotabato was among the only 21 LGUs who received such award with a score of 85-99 %.
Out of the more than 1700 LGUs in the country, only 241 LGUs received the award.
Ms. Genelene Vidanes, PADAC Secretariat received the award on December 28,2018 during the awarding ceremony held at Manila Hotel on behalf of Governor Daisy P. Avance-Fuentes and BM Agustin Dema-ala as Permanent Representative. 👍
