SouthCot braces for SRAA Meet 2020

Nine (9) athletic delegations will once again show their prowess in different sports disciplines with the weeklong staging of the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association(SRAA) meet slated on March 1-6 in General Santos City.
South Cotabato which placed first Runner-Up last year will try its luck this year to regain the most coveted crown from General Santos City, the last year’s champion.
South Cotabato completed its “grand slam” title bid in 2018 after emerging as the champion for the three consecutive years.
SouthCot dubbed as “Dreamweavers” targeted its fourpeat win last year but fell short on the gold medal tally.
During the 2019 result, Gensan garnered 93 –Gold, 75- Silver; and 89 bronze medals against SouthCot’s 78-Gold, 85-Silver; and 89-Bronze medals.
This year, the Dreamweavers poured in many efforts on its training to overthrow Gensan’s home advantage.
At least 18 sports events will be played during the weeklong sports event. These include archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, futsal, gymnastics, sepak takraw (boys), softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball.

Cotabato Province – Emperors
Sultan Kudarat – The Sultans
Koronadal – Red Armors
Kidapawan – Titans
Sarangani – Voltz
Tacurong – Shining Kudongs
The SRAA Meet is the region’s preparation for the upcoming 2020 Palarong Pambansa to be held in Marikina City. Aside from the regular sports disciplines, the region also prepares for the seven demonstration sports snd four sports for persons with disabilities.
Demo sports include aerobic gymnastics, billiards, dancesport, Pencak silat, sepak takraw (girls), wrestling, and wushu.
For PWDs, these include swimming, bocce, goalball, and athletics.
This year’s SRAA Meet theme is: “One team, One Strong SOCCSKSARGEN.”
