SouthCot police confiscates Php7.2-M worth of drugs

The South Cotabato Police Provincial Office has confiscated at least Php7.2 million worth of illegal drugs for the last three months of this year as a result of their strengthened supply reduction efforts against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province.
Based on the report from the SCPPO, they have conducted a total of 109 police operations which resulted in the confiscation of 27,101 pieces of marijuana plants, 97.9 grams of marijuana leaves and 60.9 grams of shabu.
These accomplishments resulted in the arrest of 91 suspects and the filing of 88 cases in court.
The SCPPO reports that South Cotabato is still a drug consuming area and methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” is a drug of choice followed by marijuana.
To date, shabu in the province is valued at Php500-Php1000 per sachet, Php7,500-8k per gram and Php28,000 per 5 grams.
Marijuana, on the other hand, costs Php300-500 per bundle and Php3,000 per 1 kilogram.
Police authorities also strengthen its demand reductions strategy through the conduct of police institutional
information community campaign, feedback mechanism, community awareness activities, and quad media campaigns.
During the meeting, earlier conducted by the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. as the chairperson of the PADAC expressed his full support to the SCPPO. Tamayo also acknowledges the efforts of all members of the council which led to bigger accomplishments.
