SP approves ordinance no.36 s. of 2020 for the precautionary measures against ASF

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO- The office of the Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Dra. Flora D. Bigot is grateful for the passage of the Ordinance Number 36 series of 2020.

The ordinance entitled “An ordinance prescribing the policies regulatory guidelines and precautionary measures to prevent the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province of South Cotabato, prescribing penalties for violation thereof and providing funds therefore and for other purposes.”

This ordinance will give emphasize on the hog raisers in the province to prevent and protect against the entry of ASF.

“Nakita naton nga didto sa mga issuances sang executive orders wala sang mga penalidad nga ma impose sa executive order kaya nagpasa kita sang provincial ordinance and especially para ma address ang mga regulatory policies especially gid sa online selling ng mga processed pork products halin sa mga suspected infected areas.” Dra. Bigot reiterate on the passage of ordinance.

The reason of the passage of this ordinance is to have a regulatory body to ensure that whoever violates and apprehends will automatically be penalized.

Under the penalty clause of this ordinance:

1st offense 3,000.00 and confiscations

2nd and succeeding offense 5,000.00 and confiscation of pork products.

As of now the Province of South Cotabato remains ASF free and still continues imposing a tight monitoring particularly on the provincial boundaries.

“As of now, ang aton probinsiya ASF free gihapon kita, pero alerto gihapon ang aton probinsiya sa pagbantay sang provincial boundaries, lakip na dira ang online selling.”  Dr. Byron Dela Cruz said during the press conference.
