The Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) targets a fourth-place finish in this year’s Palaro following the comeback of Regional Director Allan Farnazo to the region.
Farnazo who served as the regional head of the Department of Education in Northern Mindanao for two years has stripped off Region 12’s record as the “Best Athletic Delegation in Mindanao”.
“We need to improve in our performance during the Palarong Pambansa in 2019 in Davao City .” He emphasized,
This strong statement is a challenge to all athletes, coaches, and officials to maximize all efforts and resources to train student-athletes and produce the much-needed victory for the region.
SRAA targets to bag at least 30 gold in this year’s Palaro.
Last year, the delegation garnered 21 gold, 26 silver, and 32 bronze making it land at the top seven spots.
He also increased the cash incentives from Php15,000 to Php20,000 for gold, Php5,000 for Silver, and Php3,000 for Bronze.
On Sunday, Farnazo made a pronouncement to give Php30,000 instead of Php20,000 for the first three gold medalists only.
Some of the events which can possibly deliver the gold are the events in arnis, athletics, swimming, wushu, wrestling, taekwondo, and other individual events.
Group games such as baseball, football, and volleyball are expected to perform this year.
Aside from the regular sports, the SRAA also has prepared entries for the Paralympic games.
For the first time this year, cash incentives were increased from Php1.5 million to Php3 million.
“My generosity was also due to the openhandedness of those who supported SRAA.” he said,
Farnazo expressed his gratitude to all local government units in the region who continuously give financial resources to the DepEd.
Soccsksargen is composed of the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat; and the cities of Kidapawan, Cotabato, Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos.
