Sto. Niño NHS vies for a grand slam win as the nation’s Best BKD Implementer

The Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council chaired by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. supports Sto. Nino National High School as this year’s national entry for Region 12 to the Search for Barkada Kontra Droga Best Implementer in the Secondary Schools for the School Year 2020-2021.
This search is highly contested as Sto. Niño NHS emerged as the current national winner but also aims for a grand slam win this year.
Early this week, SNNHS underwent an “Online National Evaluation” with the team of evaluators from the national level.
No less than DepEd-12 Regional Director Allan G. Farnazo, a product of the SNNHS headed the evaluation process.
“I am very nervous about this search. But this is a positive feeling in such a way that we prepare for it.” Farnazo said,
SNNHS is highly supported by all stakeholders both from the private and government sectors.
“On this time of great anxiety, achieving this milestone gives us a sigh of relief,” Farnazo said,
Also present during the evaluation include Sto. Nino Mayor Suplicio Villalobos, School Principal Stephen Salazar, representatives from DepEd South Cotabato Division, teachers, media, among others. The Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) or ” Peer Groups Against Drugs” as one of the flagship programs of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) is an effective peer-based preventive education and information program to counter the dangers and ill effects of drug abuse. The DDB has institutionalized the BKD program in order to enlist the participation of more in and out-of-school youth, and eventually organize them into a movement of young people who are catalysts within their peer groups in advocating a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
