At least Three Hundred two (302) families from the sitios of Taluban, Tukaycalon, and Latil, in Brgy. Kablon, Tupi will enjoy the Level II Water Supply System from the Embassy of Japan as the project is presently about to be completed.
The Level II Water Supply System project which costs Php 4.25 million is a product of a partnership from the Embassy of Japan and the Provincial Government of South Cotabato on a counterpart scheme.
The project is now on its 99% completion rate.
The Japanese Government has various programs under its Official Development Assistance (ODA) that meet the diverse needs of developing countries. One of the ODA schemes, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), support small-scale projects directly benefiting the grassroots level as well as contributing to the socio-economic development of developing countries.
In the Philippines, 525 small-scale grassroots projects have been implemented by non-government organizations (NGOs), local government units (LGUs), and other non-profit organizations and the level II water supply systems in Brgy. Kablon, Tupi was one of them.
In the inspection and consultative meeting recently, the team discuss the problems that occurred during the construction of the project.
PPDO’s Project Development Officer II Kenelynn Ariño discloses that the original plan for the project should be followed and any alteration to the scheme should be referred to the Embassy of Japan.
PEO’s Chief Lower Valley Area Engr. Casimero Padilla Jr. stated that the contractor encountered a minimal problem during the actual construction of the project.
“Some residents don’t want to give a road right of way for the piping,” Padilla said.
He added some lines are not suitable to embed and illegal tapping is to be considered as the main problem.
“But everything was corrected.” He said,
Brgy. Capt. Osting Tilo Jr. expresses his gratitude to the Embassy of Japan and the LGU South Cotabato for the water system project.
“My people in three sitios will enjoy the water that they longed for, rest assured that I will personally manage this water system project so that it will last long.” -Tilo said.
