Some 25 residents from Tinongkop, Tantangan were recipients of Food For Work (FFW) Program initiated by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) from June 8 – 19 this year.
The FFW program was conducted to clear the 6-hectare site of the Integrated Provincial Environment Management Center (IPEMC) located at the said barangay.
Fifty (50) kilograms of rice plus canned goods and noodles were distributed to the beneficiaries in three (3) tranches on June 8, June 12 and June 19 that was sourced out from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Environment Management Specialist II Elbe Balucanag, OIC of PEMO’s Environment Management Division pointed out that the clearing operation include construction of elevated or stair-like pathways within the site to provide accessible trails to PEMO personnel and visitors to the area.
Balucanag added that the residents also conducted grubbing, boring of holes and sticking in preparation for the June 26 Earth Savers tree-planting activity within the perimeter boundary of the IPEMC site.
PEMO will install perimeter fence within the area to secure the area before the construction of their Health Care Waste Treatment Facility, which will cater to the treatment, handling and disposal of hospital wastes within the province.
Present during the turn-over on June 19 at the Barangay Hall was Brgy. Capatain Ernesto Layos who personally thanked Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes and PEMO for giving them the opportunity to avail of the program.
