Tourism Office celebrates Buwan ng Wika with wreath-laying on nat’l artists grave sites

The South Cotabato Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit will conduct 2 wreath-laying ceremonies in commemoration of the birth anniversaries of Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees Boie Lang Dulay of Lamdalag, Lake Sebu and Fu Yabing Masalon Dulo of Landan, Polomolok, in celebration of “Buwan ng Wika.”

                     Both artists were recognized by the national government award-giving body National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)  for their lifetime passion for weaving; t’nalak for Lang Dulay and tabih for Fu Yabing.

Lang Dulay’s wreath-laying will be held on August 3 at her grave site where her house and weaving center are also located. Likewise, Fu Yabing’s wreath-laying will be held on August 8 near her residence where she was buried.

A simple program will be held for the 2 activities after the official wreath-laying and flower/candle offering ceremony. These include messages of municipal officials and tourism/arts and culture coordinators, provincial tourism officer and arts and culture coordinator and family members.

After Lang Dulay wreath-laying ceremony, a Cultural Awareness Program will ensue  among School of Living Traditions (SLT) operators, and will culminate with the Oath-taking of SLT Operators

Likewise, a similar SLT Cultural Awareness Program will be conducted after Fu Yabing  wreath-laying together with the launching of the Loom-weaving Machine.

Lang Dulay is 95 years old while Fu Yabing is 109 years old.
