CITY OF KORONADAL — As part of the post-T’nalak Festival activity of the South Cotabato Regional Industrial Technology and Trade Expo 2017, a Seminar on Wood Crafting and Finishing Techniques was conducted at the PROTECH Center, this city, last July 26 – 28.
APPDC Emmanuel Jumilla, PROTECH Center In-Charge and Chairperson of the 2017 Expo, disclosed that the training aims to re-orient the invited participants about wood and bamboo crafting including finishing techniques to level up their expertise in the said craft.
Felix Hilado, a renowned local entrepreneur and craftsman and a perennial winner in wood and bamboo crafting contests, was selected as the Resource Speaker.
Participants were oriented first by Hilado on wood crafting design, preservation and finishing techniques before proceeding “hands-on” on wood crafting and driftwood design. Likewise, bamboo staining and finishing techniques orientation was conducted followed by “hands-on.”
Some 20 furniture owners and craftsmen here as well as in Banga, Polomolok and Lake Sebu participated in the 3-day training.
Finished products were likewise presented after the training for viewing.
A short closing program followed of which certificates of training were given to participants and certificate of appreciation to the resource speaker.
